The #10 x 4.0 in. Hex Head SMS Zinc Fastener is a long-length sheet metal screw designed for aluminum-to-aluminum fastening in screen enclosure perimeter framing applications. It provides additional reach for thicker framing assemblies where standard fastener lengths are insufficient.
Applications & Compatibility
This fastener is commonly used to secure 1×2 and 2×2 aluminum extrusions in screen enclosure systems. It is especially helpful where screen doors are installed adjacent to wood posts, columns, or structural pillars and a deeper fastening depth is required. While primarily supplied with screen enclosure components, it may also be used in other aluminum framing applications requiring a longer SMS fastener.
Installation Notes
This is an SMS (sheet metal screw) fastener and is not self-drilling. A pilot hole may be required when fastening into thicker-walled aluminum or dense substrates. Installation is performed using a 1/4 in. hex driver.
